Founded in May 1982

Nearly 30% of New Mexico Children and Teens are
Homeless, Hungry and Victims of Domestic Violence

The Life Center Foundation was founded by Marjorie Miller-Engel in May 1982, as the first non-profit in Santa Fe to provide emotional therapy - free of charge - to children and teens.

From 1982 to 2001, LCF's programs expanded into the Public School system, providing group therapy to school children from poverty level and low income families.

In 2002-2003, The Life Center Foundation converted to a Public Charitable Granting Foundation.
Since then, the LCF has provided over 70 Grant Awards totaling over $500,000.

LCF Directors pool their resources, funds and volunteer time to best serve the nearly 30% of NM children and teens living in poverty or low-income households.

100% of your tax-deductible contribution is directed into the annual Leadership Award & Grant Award Fund.

The impact of Effective philanthropy:

The Life Center’s philosophy of effective philanthropy is unique, guaranteeing 100% of your donations go directly into the
LCF Grant Award Fund. As the LCF operating budget is funded by its Directors’ donations, no contributions go towards overhead.
This ensures that every dollar earmarked for the Grant Award Fund continues intact until passed along to NM children in need.

The Life Center Foundation has presented over $500,000 in Grant Awards to Non Profits benefiting marginalized New Mexico children and families.
